My four criteria for effective communications:
1. It achieved your objectives
2. Your audience liked it
3. You liked it
4. It was as short as possible
“Yes” to all four means a successful communication.
“No” to any. It could have been better.
“No” to all of them. It couldn’t have been worse.
Identify which of the four criteria you’re worst at. Then choose 1-2 simple ways to improve – a good place to start: choose someone you think is good, and ask them how they do it.
